Dear users,
as announced on October 23rd, we have applied temporary protective measures to all cluster nodes following recently disclosed security vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel.
We have found that these measures prevent containers from starting: jobs using Pyxis (–container-image) or enroot currently fail. This affects all nodes and is not caused by your job script or container image. Importing images still works, but the container cannot be started.
Until updated kernels are available and installed, please use one of the following alternatives:
- the software stack available through environment modules (module avail)
- a Python virtual environment or a conda environment (module load anaconda3) in your home or project directory.
The measures will be removed as soon as the updated kernels are installed, and container jobs will work again without any change on your side. We will publish a new announcement when this happens.
If your work strictly depends on containers and cannot be moved to one of the alternatives above, please open a ticket at aimagelab-srv-support@unimore.it describing your use case.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
Best regards,
Lorenzo.
